The Component Manager makes links between different managers. It appeared with QuickTime and was integrated in System 7.1. Example of components are: QuickTime image and movie compressors, OSA languages, WorldScript II input methods, ColorSync color matching methods, Easy Open translators, Sound Manager compressors, etc.
